if I were you, I would test it in VM?
That config works 100% and PowerDNS is very fast and powerful as well.
All config was checked step by step by PowerDNS's Developer.

Virtual Machine

Debian OS

# apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client

# apt-get install pdns-server pdns-backend-mysql

# apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5 php5-common php5-curl php5-dev php5-gd php-pear php5-imap php5-mcrypt php5-ming php5-mysql php5-xmlrpc gettext php-db php-mdb2 php-mdb2-driver-mysql

# install Artica

# /usr/share/artica-postfix/bin/artica-make APP_PDNS

# /usr/share/artica-postfix/bin/artica-make APP_POWERADMIN

# add "Bind ips" + 127.0.0.1

# /etc/init.d/artica-postfix restart pdns

Did you follow the procedure step by step?

Artica patches repos. Make sure you have "squeeze"

I use this OS http://download.openvz.org/template/precreated/debian-6.0-x86_64.tar.gz

I double check them and they are fine.
I installed PowerDNS a few days ago and It rocks!

I think that you should contact Admin for solving your issue ....

Part of the problem was : VirtualBox Host-Only Network Adapter (192.168.56.1) was preventing the host machine from reaching port 53 of the VBox virtual machine.

Even with that adapter disabled in the host, and disabled in the guest OS (VBox settings for the VM) - port 53 works - but PowerDNS is failing to install the Instance.

For now I'm using DNSMasq and it works OK.

But this PowerDNS problem would be good to fix - by correcting whatever is preventing PowerDNS from installing properly, this would fix 1 or 2 lingering apt-get/package errors on the Artica server.
