xfce exits and restarts virtual machine to text menu?!

This has happened probably 5 times:

The xfce exits, shutdown/restarts the machine, and brings me to the text menu (where you have to enter Q to login...)

I am running the artica (ISO) machine inside VirtualBox. It is update to the current nightly version.

Is it a scheduled reboot because of automatic artica update nightly?

Is it a sign of something that is not right?

Why is it restarting like this?

Yes, artica reboot into text mode with the menu. I hit Q to quit menu and login, and it works fine. No fsck necessary.

i did know wich kind of server store your virtual machine but i think you need to investigate in this way

I think the virtual machine is not stable...
We encounter these kind of error on our demo servers that are stored on a VirtualBox server.

Ah.. ok... this is a good clue to investigate futher....

One change that I made in the VirtualBox is that I moved the virtual hard drive onto a secondary (real) hard drive.

This drive is slower speed than a normal 7200 rpm hard drive, it's a WD Green Drive (5400 rpm)... but still, SATA-II 300 Mbps interface... 64MB cache... good performance...

This reboot problem started when I moved the virtual hard drive onto this WD Green hard drive, it is important for the virtual drive to be stored on a different drive from the primary system hard drive....
