Install on a external USB drive [CLOSED]

Any help for installing ISO from CD to an external USB drive (The drive is attached, not recognized by installer)
The box is open, internall IDE disk is totally unplugged.
External Disk is a unformatted USB maxtor 80GB harddrive

*Please*, don't close this thread until solution is found or without letting me know what I ask is impossible ... or something else.

Artica ISO is based on FAI

Sorry, I don't know FAI, but I'll read about it. Thanks for the link.

I mean, I want to fully install and test Artica, booting it from an external USB drive, prior formatitng my actually-working proxy/fw.
Will I be able to modify configuration options, tweak Artica configs and have it up and fully running from a AI based installation ?

Hum... why not testing Artica on a vmware or VirtualBox or any virtualisation method....

Man, I just want to try it, on the real real world, final hardware, using the real network interface, not in the virtualied ones.
Why not just to to answer: no!, there is no way to isntall it on an external USB drive.

I don't want you to circle around my question, with serveral alternative proposals.. A single, straight and direct answer is what I wanted.

To not turn around your question just to notify you that you can use a standard distribution such has Debian, Ubuntu ,CentOS, OpenSUse, Mandriva, Fedora.
Install yourself the prefered distribution on the usb stick most distribution allow to install Linux distro to an USB.
AFter install your distribution you can use setup-* to install artica on it.
You will find here :

The result will be the same has an Artica ISO.
