OpenLdap service is main storage engine for all services managed by Artica.
This decision has been made because many applications allow using LDAP server to store their parameters :Â
- Postfix
- Amavis
- spamassassin
- Samba
- Squid
- Pure-ftpd
- ...
OpenLDAP is a strong database engine that should handle many informations for a limited CPU/memory usage.
It can be used safely in a cluster system and be backuped/restored easly..
LDAP is designed to be a standard database to store organizations and users informtations; since Microsoft decided to use LDAP on Active Directory servers this is now the main database used over the world...
Without LDAP Artica cannot not run.
If you don't want Artica using OpenLDAP, to be honest... Don't use Artica and try a next oneÂ
