Installing Artica-ISO on a Vmware virtual machine

The Artica ISO is regulary tested on a vmware server.

Before reading this document, understand that the Artica ISO overwrite datas on your hard drive, so please... Use this iso on blank vmware guest image.

Get the latest ISO from Artica web site (http://www.artica.fr/index.php?ID=1836) and put it on your vmware server host.

Open the vmware server console and create a new guest virtual machine.

 

 

Create a "Typical Machine configuration"

 

The operating system that will be installed is debian, So use "Ubuntu" has the typical Guest Operating system

 

Set the name of your new guest

 

Define the network using bridged networking

 
 
  Set the Virtual Disk up to 7.99 gb. This is mandatory

 

 

After finish your virtual machine, double-click on the CD-ROM setting

 

Click ib "Use ISO image"and browe to the latest Artica ISO file you have downloaded.

 

 
 
Run the virual machine by clicking on the "Power" button

 

 

 

When booting, select in the menu the desired server context.

Warning after choosing the context, it will be too late, all datas will be overwritten

 

Wait the automatic installation during few minutes

 

When finish the setup ask you to press "Return key"

 

Wait for the reboot and type root for login and "artica" for the password

 

Wait Xwindows system booting

 

artica-interface will automatically start after the boot

in order to finish the installation, click on "stop artica" button

 

artica-interface show you that artica service is stopped

click now on "start artica"

 

Now the artica service is started, you can go to the end-user interface
