The feature "Backup on The Fly" allows you to enable Artica backup all mails into mysql database.

This feature enable using MailArchiver software that be found here https://www.milter.org/milter/61

MailArchiver is in charge to hook postfix and put all mails in /tmp folder.

Artica will scan sthis folder periodically using artica-mailarchive program.

When artica-mailarchive found mails it :

  • Transform mails into html and save the content in Mysql Database.
  • Save originals mails into /opt/artica/share/www/original_messages
  • Save attachements in /opt/artica/share/www/attachments and index them into Mysql database.

if you want to follow artica-mailarchive operations you can :

tail -f /var/log/artica-postfix/artica-mailarchive.debug

Enable"Backup On The Fly" feature

To enable this feature go to

  • "Messaging" in the left pan
  • Click on Plugins & addons in the main tab
  • Click on "Backup On the Fly" icon 
  • In the Backup On the Fly windows click on the big circle in order to set it green and apply the configuration by click on Apply located on the right windows.

 

Connect on end-user interface to query backup contener

  • Disconnect from the Interface and re-connect has a simple user.
  • On the main screen , click on "Backup" menu located on the top grey menu 

 

 

 The backup section show you a form that help you to query backuped mails.

After found your mails, when you click on one of them, a new screen show you the full content of the backuped mail.
