Fighting SPAM with Postfix Instant IpTables

This feature is available with artica version 1.3.080802

it adds automatically Firewall rules to fight spammers messaging servers.
Artica postfix store all mails events in the Mysql database. According this feature, Artica is able to analyze history and decide to add IP addresses directly into the iptables Firewall.
This feature will safe bandwith according it limits connections to your mail server port.
Postfix Instant IpTables is a feature that analyze mails history, when senders servers handle too many ban events, artica will add automatically the IP address of this server into the firewall
with this feature you will increase performances by filter these spammers directly trough the network interface without stress your mail server

To enable this feature

  • Go into messaging/index section area.
  • Click on Security tab.
  • Select  Postfix Instant IpTables icon.

  • In the new form, turn to green the big red circle.
  • If you turn to green, artica will add IpTables rules in order to deny Senders IP addresses that reach the maximal events you set.

 

  • Define the whitelist IP address that will never be added in the firewall.
  • Maximal days: Define here the maximal days to calculate the spam avents .(If you set for example 2 days, the process will calculate events from 2 days ago to now).
  • Events number: Define the sum of ban events in order to add the ip address in firewall.
  • Every: Define here the schedule in minutes for each cycle.
    The default value is to execute process each 4h - 240mn -[br]The minimal value is 10mn 

If Artica has added rules in firewall, you will be able to manage these rules in order to tune them.

  • You can enable LOG to logging in the system the blocked IP address, 
  • You can Disable rules and make them has whitelist IP (after recompile rules).
